Stepping and strolling is a form of percussive dance originating from historically African American fraternities and sororities. Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. participates nationally in step and stroll, and is the first Asian-interest sorority to participate in step at the University of Washington. Our sorority embraces all of our sisters' talents and we are able to express our creativity and showcase our skills through stepping and strolling.

STEP OUT

Sigma Psi Zeta's 11th Annual Step Out Against Domestic Violence Showcase. University of Washington HUB Lyceum Disclaimer: duet/quartet choreo covered from JoJo Gomez

Sigma Psi Zeta hosts an annual step, stroll, and dance showcase called Step Out. Our very own sister, Thu Nguyen, introduced Step Out to the University of Washington in efforts to raise awareness of domestic violence. Sigma Psi Zeta encourages all members of the community, both men and women, to take action in the education of combating domestic violence against women. Each year, 100% of the profit raised from Step Out is donated to charity. As Step Out approaches its 14th anniversary in 2024, we hope to reach out to the Seattle community and generate financial support for organizations stepping out against domestic violence.

STROLL

The sisters of Sigma Psi Zeta perform and compete in stroll competitions both on campus and off campus. Sigmas have actively participated in UW's Annual Stroll Competition in the past.
